Ursa replaces Bar One as a new West Queen West hotspot, just steps away from Quad Lofts

The cozy and funky interior of Ursa. Image c/o Toronto Life.

Formerly Bar One, the space at 924 Queen St. W is now home to the recently opened Ursa. The newly renovated space is now complete and features wood panelling and hanging light bulbs. Ursa is a joint venture by two brothers: Jacob and Lucas Sharkey-Pearce. The executive chef, Jacob, is quite experienced as he has worked in many restaurants, including Centro and the Windsor Arms Hotel.

The most unique thing about Ursa is not the décor (although we think it looks pretty cool), but the food it serves. It offers Canadian cuisine with an emphasis on healthier eating. Alternative cooking methods are a big part of their secret. One such method includes the vegetables being compressed in a vacuum, so that the nutrients are not eliminated through the common boiling process. What’s more, pro-biotic kefirs, yogurts, tofu, and butter are all made in-house. Both brothers have a background in diet and nutritional consultation for athletes and that’s why there are no deep fried foods in sight.

Some dishes include:

The pork loin and cider-glazed belly, served with lentils, kale and Jerusalem artichoke ($24). You could try the mixture of wild mushrooms and chestnut agnolotti covered in kombucha-sherry broth ($13). For dessert, there are options like a raw chocolate mousse with pumpkin kefir cream and hibiscus syrup ($9).

This is one of many hot spots around Quad Lofts. If you would like to receive more information about this condominium or others in Toronto, feel free to contact us at (416) 929-1660 or email us at resupport@axoncapitalrealty.com. We’d be more than happy to assist you!
